This page is about LEGOLAND Sierksdorf, the second LEGOLAND park, opened after LEGOLAND Denmark, it was located in Germany and was opened in 1973 and closed again in 1976.

On June 1, 1973 an howl new LEGOLAND park opened at Sierksdörf in Germany: LEGOLAND Sierksdörf. It was a joint venture with another regional park. It was an amusement park with LEGO landscapes, western region (LEGOREDO), a lego train, lego traffic school and several restaurants and shops. The park was closed three years after the opening again, as the German partner had no respect for the basic idea of the trademark, the concept of the product and the child as the center of attention.

Godtfred saw the German failure to show that there schould only be one LEGOLAND park. Kjeld, his son, saw it differently: it was possible to open LEGOLAND parks in other countries, but the company had to take the full responsibility and direction about this parks. In 1992, LEGO purchased a Safari Park in London. This place could not be taken for 1994 and it was a hell of a job to open the English LEGOLAND Windsor in March 1996. Nobody would think of copying a world famous tourist attraction, and LEGOLAND Windsor is certainly not a copy of LEGOLAND Billund. It has its own distinctive characteristics, its own models and its own activities, but a common characteristic is that children and (not least) their parents visit the park and have across the opportunity to use LEGO bricks to build.
In 1999 opened the third LEGOLAND in Carlsbad in America: LEGOLAND California. And in 2001, LEGOLAND Deutschland was reborn again.

In 1977 they wrote in the Dutch LEGO newspaper (number 4, page 2) an article on LEGOLAND Denmark. At the bottom of this      page was the following article:

It says: There is only ONE LEGOLAND.

There was, in Germany, at Sierksdorf at the Baltic Sea, a small LEGOLAND. This was closed a few time ago. It doesn't excists anymore. Now the only LEGOLAND is LEGOLAND in Denmark.
